UPDATE FROM SUPERVISOR KATELIN OLSON:
If April showers bring flowers, they also bring a huge burst of earth-loving acƟviƟes in Ulysses!
Special shout outs to a number of significant local organizers/groups for bringing numerous acƟviƟes to
our community in honor of Earth Day:
·Marvin PriƩs and the Ulysses' Bee and Sustainability commiƩees for their efforts on April 18th;
·Cait Darfler for spearheading the April 22nd event at the Farmers' Market;
·Andy Hillman and the Ulysses Tree Advisory CommiƩee for the tree planƟngs at the Farmers'
Market on April 29th.
At our regular meeƟng on April 11th, the Town Board will be issuing a proclamaƟon for Earth Day, as well
as awarding a contract for the planning phase of an extension of the Black Diamond Trail into the Village,
and conƟnuing our work on improvising our IT/Cyber security infrastructure.
As always, the public is encouraged to aƩend our meeƟngs in person or remotely. MeeƟng
informaƟon can be accessed here.
DOG CENSUS:
As required by law, we are beginning a town-wide dog census. In the first phase, we are trying to get as
many folks as possible to respond on-line. This will help cut down on mailing costs. Please respond at
https://forms.gle/PmQ49SPsvESGZind9 by APRIL 30.
If you have a dog that does not yet have a license, complete the form at
https://townofulyssesny.gov/__cms/docs/Dog-license-form-2022.pdf and return along with
rabies/spay informaƟon.
Any dogs found to be unlicensed as of June 2, 2023 will be assessed a $25 census fee in addiƟon to the
usual licensing fees.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN STEERING COMMITTEE (CPSC)
The CPSC will conduct its first meeƟng on Monday April 17 at Town Hall starƟng at 5:00 PM and will be
held via Zoom. Please see the town’s events calendar for more informaƟon.
TOMPKINS COUNTY EMERGENCY RESPONSE EVENTS:
SKYWARN Weather SpoƩer Training
Tompkins County Dept. of Emergency Response (DoER) will host a Basic SKYWARN weather spoƩer
training offered by the NaƟonal Weather Service office in Binghamton on Wednesday, April 12th from
6:30-8:00pm. The class is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about techniques and
safety for severe weather spoƫng and how you can report severe weather to the NWS. Click here for

CiƟzen Preparedness Training in Enfield
The next CiƟzen Preparedness Corps training in Tompkins County will take place Saturday, May 13th at
10am at the Enfield Community Center, 162 Enfield Main Road. It's an opportunity for you to learn how
to prepare for any type of disaster or emergency, respond accordingly, and recover. The training is free
but pre-registraƟon is required at www.prepare.ny.gov.
PROPERTY RE-ASSESSMENTS:
You may have received a noƟce in the mail with your Preliminary Assessment from the Tompkins County
Dept. of Assessment. The changes are based on inventory, recent appraisals, and comparable sales. For
more informaƟon on sales, visit the county’s sales search application. In addiƟon, property owners can
uƟlize Imagemate Online to search property informaƟon and values.
If you do not agree with your updated assessment, you can request a review by either:
·Filling out the review applicaƟon on the back of the noƟce
·Filing an online assessment review application.
·Scheduling a phone appointment with one of the appraisers in the office

TCFA EVENTS:
The Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts (TCFA) is hosƟng various events with a science theme. Link

·Sci-Fi Movie Night- Saturday, April 15, 6:30pm
·Sketch with the Artists of the Spring GNSI Member Show- Sunday, April 16, 2-4pm
In addiƟon, TCFA is currently holding a Capital Campaign.
TRUMANSBURG LIBRARY’S SPRING BOOK SALE SET FOR APRIL 26-30
Ulysses Philomathic Library’s Spring Book Sale will take place April 26-30 at the library, located at 74 E.
Main St. in Trumansburg.
Member Night, from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, will kick off the sale, welcoming current and new
members. For people who are not currently members, they can join that night and sƟll take part. Then
the sale fully opens, running from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28. Over

will be name-your-price style, allowing shoppers to pay what they choose.

HISTORY CENTER EVENTS
The Tompkins County History Center is seeking volunteers for HistoryForge TranscripƟon Sessions to
digiƟze local census informaƟon. Sessions take place every other Saturday from 11am-1pm in-person at
the Tompkins Center for History & Culture on the Ithaca Commons, usually in the Second Floor

AddiƟonally, the History Center offers other events and an exhibit hall.
