Read on for information about your 2024 Town & County tax bill.

Your 2024 Town & County tax bill was mailed yesterday, 12/26/23. Look for them in a Town of Ulysses envelope along
with an insert explaining your taxes in more depth. Please note that you will still receive a bill if your taxes are paid out
of escrow.

PAYMENTS:
You may pay your bill by:
• Mail
• Drop box outside front door at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg
• In person at 10 Elm St. Trumansburg Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm or by appointment.
• On-line via credit card (fee applies):
o If your tax bill is less than $64, service fee is $1.75
o If your tax bill is greater than $64, service fee is 2.75%
• On-line via e-check (fee applies):

Installment Plan (2 payments):
• You MUST pay the first installment by Jan. 31, 2024. THERE IS A 2.5% FEE FOR THIS OPTION.
• Please note that the second installment must be paid to the Tompkins County Finance Department
sometime after April 2. They will send you a reminder notice.
Partial payments of any other amount besides the 15f installment or payment in full cannot be accepted.
HELPFUL TIPS FOR AVOIDING LATE FEES:
➢ Include a phone number and e-mail with your payment. If there are any errors with your payment, we want
to notify you as soon as possible.
➢ Make sure that the numeric and written totals match on your check. The bank will return checks where those
lines do not match.
➢ Pay early. Bad weather will not change a tax deadline (unless the town or county has officially declared a
state of emergency).
Please note that as per state law, -you are responsible for paying vour bill even if you don't receive it.
DEADLINE:
Pay your bill without a late penalty on or before Tuesday. Jan. 31 2024. Envelope postmarks with this date will also be
accepted.
Beware: checks automated by your bank's bill payment program do not have postmarks on their envelopes. We must
go by the date that we receive the check in those cases.
FREQUENTLY -ASKED QUESTIONS on TAXES:
Q: I have an escrow account for taxes. Will my tax bill be automatically paid by my bank?
A: Some banks ask for tax bills directly from the Town and some don't; please contact your bank directly to
confirm their policy.
Q. Why is my bill so high?
A. Generally this is due to a previously unpaid School or Village tax bill; or delinquent water bill. These charges
will show up on your bill as "Delinquent water", "Relevied school" etc. If this is not the case, please contact our
office and we will try to assist you further.
Q: Why is my assessment so high? Can I appeal it?
A: If you feel that your assessment is not reflective of fair market value, you have the right to ask for an informal
review or to file a complaint with the County Board of Assessment Review. Contact Tompkins County
Assessment at (607) 274-5517. Please note that any changes will not affect your current bill.
Q: Are there any tax exemptions available?
A: To see if you qualify for an exemption, contact Tompkins County Assessment Office at 274-5517. The deadline
to file an exemption for the following year is March 1st
Q: What is the "Solid Waste Fee" on my tax bill?
A: Tompkins County collects funds from residents to help cover the cost of its Recycling program. Visit
