On Tuesday, we will be holding a special meeng at 6pm to review the 2024 Tentave Town Budget. Did you know that in 2023 Ulysses had the lowest tax rate of any municipality in Tompkins County? The Town Board is proposing to further reduce rates for both Town-outside-of-Village property owners, as well as Town residents who own property in the Village, as well as remain under the tax cap, in the 2024 Tentative Town Budget. Our regular meeng will begin at 7pm, and you can find the agenda materials here. In addion to a focus on the budget, we will be scheduling the special elecon for the residents of our community to vote on whether the Town should purchase 30 acres for future recreaonal development. I have been heartened by the number of community discussions currently occurring around this land acquision proposal. The Town is commied to helping the public be informed about its proposed plan, how the situaon developed over me, how the special elecon will work, and what processes would be undertaken if the voters support the land acquision. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document has been developed to help share current, accurate informaon. This is intended to be a living document that can be updated with addional quesons and informaon. Have a queson not included? Please send to ulyssesrecreation@gmail.com for consideraon for inclusion in a future dra of the document. As always, public statements can be sent to ulysses.clerk@gmail.com.
