2015 Fire Budget
TOWN OF ULYSSES
November 25, 2014

The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg.
PRESENT:
Supervisor- Liz Thomas
Board members- Rich Goldman, John Hertzler, Nancy Zahler, David Kemess
Clerk- Carissa Parlato
Deputy Supervisor- Michelle Wright
OTHERS PRESENT:
Colleen Freese (Town of Covert Clerk), Chuck Bosman (Town of Covert Councilman), Jeffrey Vann
(Town of Covert Councilman), Jason Fulton (Trumansburg Fire Chief), Dave Schurman (Ulysses
resident)
Ms. Thomas opened the hearing at 7 p.m. and introduced the Ulysses Town Board as well the Town of
Covert board members in attendance.
She noted that the purpose of the hearing is the adoption of a fire contract with the Village of
Trumansburg. She presented the Affidavit of Publication showing that the hearing was noticed in the
Ithaca Journal on Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014.
Ms. Thomas explained that the proposed contract for the Ulysses portion of fire costs is $165,803.11
and that the town is required to provide fire protection services for its residents. This contract provides
such services through the Trumansburg Fire Department, maintained by the Village of Trumansburg.
At this time, Ms. Thomas invited the public to speak.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Mr. Vann expressed concerns about the hearing. He was unsure why the Covert hearing was taking
place in Ulysses.
Ms. Thomas explained that the hearing was mandated by Town Law, section 185.
ADJOURN:
With no further comments, Ms. Zahler made a motion to close the hearing at 7:10 p.m; seconded by
Mr. Goldman.
