2015 PRELIMINARY BUDGET
Town of Ulysses
October 28, 2014
Audio of the minutes are available on the website at ulvsses.ny.us.
The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg.
PRESENT:
Supervisor- Liz Thomas
Board members- John Hertzler, Nancy Zahler, Rich Goldman, Dave Kerness
Clerk- Carissa Parlato
(No citizens in attendance; no comments submitted)
Ms. Thomas noted that the public hearing was set by resolution on 10/14/14, and the legal notice
appeared in the Ithaca Journal on 10/22/14. She later presented the affidavit of publication.
She continued, noting the following:
Tax rates on the Town's tax bill will vary for town/village residents due to Fire/EMS fees. Village
residents are already charged a portion of their Fire/EMS fee on their village tax bill, so will pay
less on the town tax bill.
The total tax rate = $2.56/$1000; a 1.6% increase over 2014
Mr. Kerness added that one reason for the tax increase is an increase in Fire/EMS expenses.
Ms. Thomas also said that adding to the Highway reserve fund for much-needed equipment
contributed.
She went on to say that if Ulysses had been able to stay within the state's tax cap, town residents with
property assessed at $170,000 would have received a rebate check for $8.75; village residents would
have received a $5.37 check.
ADJOURN:
Mr. Goldman made a motion to close the hearing at 8:07 p.m.; seconded by Mr. Kerness and passed
unanimously.
Respectfully submitted by Carissa Parlato on 11/12/14
