PURPOSE OF PUBLIC HEARING:
Ms. Zahler stated that the subject of the public hearing is the 2021 Preliminary Budget. She added
that the date of the hearing was set by resolution of the Town Board on October 21, 2020 and a
notice of the hearing was published in the Ithaca Journal on October 23, 2020.
She further noted that the board and staff kept in mind the difficult times for tax payers as the
budget was created even though sales tax revenue has taken a hit this year. She added that prudent
budgeting in the past has left a decent fund balance to help cushion these times. Although cuts were
made, the budget includes creativity and efficiency.
Ms. Wright and Ms. Zahler presented a budget narrative that included definitions of funds,
explanations, and pie charts.
