Ulysses Zoning Board of Appeals
June 14, 1999
Present : Chair George Tselekis, Ken Christianson, Jim Hickey, Carl Mann, zoning officer
Alex Rachun, Tracy Scriber, Maureen and Donald Fehrs.
Recording minutes : Deb Austic
George opened the hearing at 7 : 30 p . m. The Board reviewed the application for
an addition for John and Sophia Bezirganian at 1579 Taughannock Blvd . The contractor,
Tracy Scribner described the project as a 18 ' x 19 ' addition of basement storage and a
first floor family room , same height as existing dwelling . All neighbors were notified and
none responded.
Ken made a motion that the variation was not substantial in relation to the
requirement, no increase in population, no detriment or change in the neighborhood, no
other method of obviation, and in the interests the variance be granted . Carl seconded the
motion and the Board voted .

Carl — AYE
George — AYE
Jim — abstained (late arrival)
The motion passed and variance granted .
The Board moved on to review the application of Maureen and Donald Fehrs to
build a horse barn in excess of 20 ' height. The Fehrs explained they planned to build a
horse barn and would need to exceed the 20 ' height limit to have a loft above. The
current plan was for 26 ' height, but that may be less . A landowner from across Perry City
Rd . was present and asked the location of the barn. The Fehrs described the location as
500 ' from the road , near the woods and back from the driveway a bit. No opposition was
expressed . Alex noted that neighbor Dunham was in to view the plans and expressed no
opposition . George noted that while visiting the site, he spoke with neighbor Luster who
expressed no opposition .
Jim made a motion that noting no opposition, the variation was not substantial, no
increase on governmental facilities, no change or detriment to the neighborhood, no other
method of obviation, and in the interests of justice the variance be granted. Ken seconded
the motion and the Board voted .

Carl — AYE
George — AYE
The motion was passed and variance granted. The Board reviewed the minutes of
4/26/99 . Jim made a motion to approve, seconded by Ken and passed . Carl abstained. The
Board reviewed the minutes of 5/ 10/99 . Jim made a motion to approve, seconded by Carl
and passed . The meeting ended at 8 : 00 p . m .
