HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-01-25 - MP 7. 1 TOWN OF ULYSSES MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE MEETING JANUARY 25 , 1994 TOWN HALL P RESENT : CO - CHAIRWOMAN : SUE POELVOORDE ; MEMBERS : CATHERINE STOVER , RUTH KAHN , JOANNE MOLINO AND DAVID LAURIE ; SECRETARY : ROXANNE SMITH The meeting came to order at 7 : 50 PM . Roxanne announced that t he Planning Board has invited Torn King from the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce to come speak on tourism on February 28 , 1994 ® at the Town Hall at 7 : 30 PM . She extended an invitation to the Master Plan Committee . She also mentioned that the Town Board , Village Master Plan Committee , Alex Rachun and area businesses have also been invited to hear, yr . King . Sue distributed an announcement indicating that there will be a Land Use Law Conference down in White Plains on February 22 , 1994 . It discusses the impacts of urbanization , what ' s happening in the cities , suburban areas are expanding and how cities should capitalize on that . On Thursday , January 27 , 1994 , the Ithaca Tompkins County Transportation Council is having a public meeting . They are beginning to put together their long range transportation plans for the greater Ithaca Tompkins County Area . Although the Town of Ulysses is not included in that area , it could impact the out lying areas . ( It will include the Town of Ithaca , City of Ithaca , Town of Lansing , Cayuga Heights , possibly the Town of D ryden said Sue . ) Ruth distributed a basic fact sheet on the Trumansburg Water. System Capacity . It was a study done in 1987 that Sam Demas up - d ated in 1991 . Catherine has spoken with Jim Meeker about a list of bad roads in the Town of Ulysses for the Transportation Topic . He will get t o it as soon as he can . David Laurie wanted to make the Master. Plan Committee aware of some land that may become available in the Village . Vinnie G iordano ( from Ithaca ) owns this property and he offered it to David . The parcels that he mentioned are on either side of Route 96 . One is the area where the Park and Ride ( TomTran ) meets and t he other is the " flat iron " where the information booth has been located . He is the gentleman that David originally purchased his building from . Many of the Members thought that the property be - longed to the Village . Marsha. ( who Was working late in her office ) indicated that the parcels are located in a Commercial Zone . Marty Luster ' s Office sent Doug Austic a. notice saying that there is available grant money for creating parks said Marsha . Vinnie had indicated to David that he doesn ' t really care for Trumansburg . The evening ' s agenda was to address the " Environmental Setting " section and to put it into outline form for Alex . It is as follows : ® TOPIC II ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING • A . TOPOGRAPHY 1 . Brief discussion of the history of the formation ( use Town of Ithaca for example ) 2 . Discussions of terrain , with elevation ranges 3 . List gorges 4 . Proximity to the lake and lake frontage 5 . Major streams - list classification of major streams 3 . Wetlands - officially listed by DEC ( others classified but may be significant for the Town ) . 4 . Ponds 5 . Subsurface water conditions ( consult local well drillers about the various well depths in the area ) . 6 . Watershed information for major streams 7 . Floodplains ( Alex can choose to use available graphics ) D . SOILS 1 . Bedrock 2 . Slopes 3 . General discussion of soil types 4 . Farmland soils - discussion of quality The agenda for the next meeting ( February 1 , 1994 at 7 : 30 PM ) will be the outline for Public Utilities and Community Facilities . Ruth has agreed to write the narrative once that outline is complete . The meeting ended at 9 : 10 PM . •
